Five Common Excuses for Not Planning

by Antonisha Plans

April 2017

On my quest to convert everyone online and in real life to paper planners, I have noticed a great deal of people, especially moms in my local mom meetup groups, who don’t use planners. As I tried to explain to them the benefits of using a planner and refered them to my YouTube channel, it dawned on me that I don’t have very many videos aimed at those getting started with planning. Most of my viewers are somewhat veterans in the planner community and are looking for ways to use their planners more functionally and intentionally, as opposed to just getting started. I decided to backtrack and start working on some ideas that would help someone who is new to the planning community. I figured a good place to start would be discussing some of the reasons or excuses that people give for not planning in the first place. These ideas were originally found in Hyrum W. Smith’s book The 10 Natural Laws of Successful Time and Life Management. I have just added my personal opinion to the suggestions that he gave.

Hey everyone!!! My name is Antonisha and I love to plan!! I am a functional, intentional planner and I’m all about experiencing life with my family. I want to help others plan a life they love and enjoy every minute of it. I look forward to getting to know all of you and hopefully learning some of your planning tips and tricks as well. You can find me on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

Love the article! Two points from the video I especially enjoyed: Planning the day so that someone else doesn’t decide for you what you need to do. Breaking projects down into small steps/tasks that can be accomplished without throwing in the towel on the whole day when you are interrupted. I, too, have been planning since grade school, but these are awesome reminders even for veteran planners. Thanks Antonisha! Thanks Carie!
