Tracking Your Weight Loss Journey in Your TN

Summer 2018

A traveler’s notebook was first used by travelers (I bet you didn’t know that, huh?!) to document their expeditions by journaling and sketching.

My big exploit since August 2017 was to lose nearly 50 pounds… and I’ve lost 43, to be exact, as of last week. Let me tell you, it was a trip! It had its ups and downs, twists and turns and certainly a lot of turbulence! Sometimes I felt on top of the mountain, and, other times, lost at sea. I delighted in new taste sensations and felt like I hiked a million miles… both on the same day!

The support i used for all of this was two simple trackers. What I am sharing with you is not rocket science by any means… no, ma’am. It’s simply putting one foot in front of the other, day after day and week after week.

During this “trip,” I created my own trackers in a bullet journal, then later switched back to printed ones from AnniePlansPrintables and AlibiDesignStudios.

I used those to the max! I tracked diet, exercise, health, and doctor appointments. For diet and exercise, I used smilies that I simply drew in. I am not the sticker/pretty planner chick. I tend to veer toward simple and duplicatable systems, as I coach women over 50 in supplementation for weight loss success and health improvement. What I do, they should be able to duplicate, so i keep it as simple as possible. I tried to keep it as real as possible, too. If I had a big slip-up in food one day, I would give myself a frown. I mostly tried to track my victories to keep the morale up, because I knew that I was heading for a total lifestyle change for good.

On the top margin, I would note the doctor’s appointments, any sick days, and any outings, parties, or conferences that I did where I knew I would be tempted to deviate from my long-term plan. I was able to, at a glance, understand my weight loss or lack of it during that two-week period.

Notice here: a wedding, a sick day, and a conference. Not a good week…

Concerning the weight itself, I tracked that in a simple dated page. And, yes, that is my weight in kilos. Now you understand how far I have come! Yes, my main tools were an intelligent supplementation with good food choices and tracking, tracking, tracking!

I would like to thank Valeria and Annie for the trackers that have literally changed the “shape” of my life! Having pre-made trackers took out the excuse of not tracking and being accountable to myself! I feel like I am on the way to a healthier future thanks to you!
