February 2018 Issue 9 Letter From the Editor

In my now-snowy neck of the woods, January was The Month That Would Not End. Don’t get me wrong, I generally don’t wish for time to move faster unless I’m in the dentist’s chair or someplace equally unappealing… but January settled in, made itself comfortable, and took its sweet time finally moving along. And it wasn’t even snowy! Our snow melted, and then the temps hit single-digits and all of the mud froze. Yummy.

But February? Oh, it’s been lovely, if you love true winter (which I absolutely do… my husband, however, does not). Nine days of measurable snow. Sledding. Watching big fat flakes fall and muffle the noise of the world. More than once I have stood on the back deck and listened to the Quiet. February is usually the month when the cabin fever truly sets in and the boys start climbing the walls (nearly literally, no joke), but not this particular February.

And to all of our amazing readers south of the equator… I hope your summer is going smashingly! I’ll willingly admit to wishing it was summer (honestly my least favorite month, which I realize makes me extremely unpopular) while we were in the midst of Frozen Mud January.

The icing on my winter wonderland cake has been getting to read (and watch) the contents of this month’s issue. You are all truly pulling out all of the stops! Thank you, again, to all of this month’s contributors! If you’re even considering sending an article or post or video for a future issue, please do so! Don’t hesitate to send your questions and/or articles!

Oh my goodness you took me back to my Midwest childhood! I now live in the southwest where winter is a joke for a snow lover lol.

The snow fell rather hard and quick a few days ago. I laughed listening to all the elderly in church recall the trouble they had during the blizzard of 79. I recall the mile high snow and the closing of so many businesses, schools and churches. However all this did was give us teens loads of time playing at winter Olympic sports and gallons of hot cocoa.
